The Netsis Manufacturing and MRP Module

How bills of materials, work orders and material requirements planning work in Netsis.

Netsis Manufacturing MRP Bill of materials

Manufacturing is one of the areas where Netsis is strongest. But what the module gives back is directly proportional to the quality of the data put in.

01. Bill of Materials Structure

Product trees can be defined at multiple levels. Getting semi-finished breakdowns right directly determines both costing and planning results.

02. The Work Order Flow

Planned production becomes a work order, and material issues and production receipts run through that order. If scrap and consumption variances aren't recorded here, costing doesn't reflect reality.

03. Running MRP

Purchase and production suggestions are generated from orders, stock, minimum levels and lead times. If lead time fields aren't current, the suggestions become unusable.

04. The Capacity Dimension

Material planning and capacity planning are separate topics. Planning done without defining work centre capacities produces delivery dates that never materialise.

05. The Costing Side

The gap between standard and actual cost should be analysed regularly. A large gap means either the bill of materials doesn't reflect reality or production records are incomplete.

06. Implementation Order

Clean up bill of materials and routing data first, then establish work order discipline, and only then switch MRP on. Projects that run the other way leave the module unused on the shelf.
