"B2B and B2C Social Media Strategy: Critical Differences"

How should B2B brands speak on social media? The differences from B2C, platform choice and content strategy.

Social media B2B B2C Strategy

"Let's post fun content on Instagram." This strategy, right for B2C brands, is often a waste of time for B2B. B2B and B2C social-media strategies are fundamentally different. The right platform, the right tone, the right frequency — they all change according to the target audience.

01. Platform Choice

For B2B, LinkedIn is the number-one platform. Decision-makers and technical profiles are there. Instagram is secondary, important for brand recognition. TikTok and Reels are usually not needed for B2B.

For B2C, the opposite: Instagram and TikTok are primary, LinkedIn is in a supporting position.

02. Content Tone

B2B tone: professional, reference-based, data-supported, long-form articles. Case studies, industry reports and technical analyses perform well.

B2C tone: warm, fun, short video, user-generated content. Emotional management is critical.

03. Posting Frequency

For B2B, 3-5 posts a week is ideal for LinkedIn. Fewer, and the algorithm drops you; more, and it signals spam.

For B2C, 1 post a day on Instagram + stories + 2-3 reels a week keeps the rhythm.

04. Measurement Metrics

In B2B, "likes" aren't a metric; the real measurement is: profile visits, messages, the number of form completions, the number of leads that convert to sales.

In B2C, direct sales measurement is possible; add-to-cart rate and conversion are tracked.
