The first question of companies evaluating Odoo is always the same: "Is Community enough for us, or should we move to Enterprise?" The answer depends on user count, module requirements and support expectations. But before deciding, you need to know their differences by concrete items.
01. License Model
Community is free under the LGPL license, with unlimited users. Enterprise is an annual per-user fee (around $250-500 per user per year in Turkey). In Enterprise all modules are open; Community has the core modules.
02. Modules Only in Enterprise
Critical modules not in Community but present in Enterprise:
- Full Accounting (a simplified version in Community)
- Studio (drag-drop customization)
- IoT Box integration
- VoIP integration
- Marketing Automation
- Field Service
- FSM planning
03. Support and Security Updates
In Enterprise, official support from Odoo, automatic security patches and migration scripts come included. In Community this support comes from the community; you may have to wait in case of a critical bug or security hole.
04. Odoo.sh: A Cloud Exclusive to Enterprise
Odoo's own cloud platform, odoo.sh, can only be used with Enterprise. Operations like deploy, staging and database backup become easier. If you want to install on your own server (self-hosted), Community can also be placed in a cloud environment.
05. Decision Guide
Community: 10-20 users, basic accounting + simple CRM/stock/sales, companies with their own technical team. Enterprise: 30+ users, complex manufacturing, advanced accounting and reporting, companies expecting professional support.
